Introducing Beyond the Distraction
In this introductory episode, Dr. Volpe explains why the term ADHD can be misleading when applied to adults. While hyperactivity may still be present, many adults struggle more with executive-function deficits — organization, time management, task initiation, working memory, emotional regulation, impulsivity, and follow-through. He discusses how anxiety, depression, trauma, sleep problems, and substance use can complicate the picture, and why accurate evaluation matters. Dr. Volpe also introduces the topics to be explored throughout the series and explains why this work is personally meaningful to him.
